The LBRB Marketing & Web Development Incubator Program

If you’re a student between the ages of 17 and 22, and are targeting a career in marketing, advertising, branding, graphic design or web design and development, you’ve come to the right place.

We’re offering student internships where you can work on real projects, under the supervision of the LBRB team, and be paid for your efforts. If you’re interested in this program, here’s how it works:
  1. Submit a cover letter that tells us why you want to work in this field (see Application below). Include a resume, references and a project portfolio or writing samples (this may be a link to your personal website), including a blurb on the background of each project – the who, what, why, etc. and your role in the project. Fill out the form on our contact page – if you have attachments you’d like to send, give us a call at 503.629.8674 and we’ll let you know where to send them.
  2. If, after reviewing your letter and work samples, you’re selected to qualify for the program, we’ll contact you. If you don’t get in on your first effort, grow your skills, add to your portfolio, and try again.
  3. You’ll be assigned a mock project with a deadline, which you’ll own all the rights to and be able to use in your own portfolio, whether it passes the review process or not.
  4. LBRB will review your mock project and talk with you about how you developed it, what your approach was, obstacles encountered and how you overcame them. If you pass our review, you’ll be accepted into the program. If not, we’ll go over the details as to why you weren’t so you can learn from them.
  5. Students accepted into the program will be added to our team as contractors. We’ll negotiate a base hourly rate with you. Then, when a project presents itself that your skills fit, we’ll contact you for a project (not to exceed) bid. If approved, you’ll be managed by the LBRB team during that project… and be paid for your work as an independent contractor.

We believe that if you’ve got talent, maturity, accountability, are responsive and can communicate clearly, and are willing to check your ego at the door, there’s no reason you should settle for an unpaid internship. If you’ve got all that going for you, you should be given an opportunity to learn your craft and be fairly compensated for the work you do.

This program was created to recognize your talent and potential, and to help you grow into an experienced professional, with a solid work portfolio. Here is a list that includes many of the areas of skill we’re looking to incubate:

  • Copy Writing for Advertising/Marketing/Branding
  • Graphic Design
  • User Interface and Web Design
  • HTML and WordPress Coding
  • Java/JQuery programming
  • Database Programming for Web
  • …and you must own (relatively) current copies of and be fluent in both MS Office and the Adobe Creative Suite
